Recent representative matters include:

  • Successfully obtaining a verdict of $11.6 million on behalf of one of our clients against a Texas oil company for malicious prosecution. $11 million of the jury's verdict represented punitive damages, awarded after we persuaded the jury that the oil company had sued our client in retaliation for his complaints to the Securities Exchange Commission about the company's accounting practices.
  • Successfully representing a U.S. corporation and its shareholders against the company's former directors, corporate law firm and corporate audit firm. We obtained a significant settlement on behalf of our client, which resulted from allegations of securities fraud by some of the company's former officers and directors and allegations of professional negligence against the company's former corporate law firm and outside audit firm.
  • Obtaining a favorable settlement against Zimbabwe mining interests based on fraud.
  • Successfully settling a contract claim by a provider against one of four remaining local exchange telephone companies.
  • Representing plaintiffs in the mining industry in a securities action related to allegations of security fraud against former corporate officers. The case was filed in federal court in Los Angeles. Blecher & Collins successfully obtained a substantial settlement in 2002.

At Blecher & Collins, we have decades of experience in handling complex litigation in state and federal courts and administrative agencies across the country.
